DU Fu was a great poet in the history of China and even the world. In order to commemorate the 1 300th birthday of the spoet-sage, scholars from various places held a conference in the ancient cap- ital Xi＇an. The topics of the conference involved the lifetime, thoughts and works of DU Fu, studies on DU Fu＇s poems, current poetry creation, foreign studies on DU Fu＇s poems, DU Fu and Chang＇an, and DU Fu＇s poems and Chang＇an culture, etc. The following characteristics were reflected by the conference, including the spirit of the times and the cultural studies; intensive display of the latest achievement; the centralized topics with highlights and academic return with spirit inheritance.
