介绍了2012年美国总统绿色化学挑战奖获奖项目的创新与价值。5个奖项分别是:①加利福尼亚州大学的Tang教授和Codexis公司,因为开发了一种使用工程酶和低成本原料合成辛伐他丁的工艺,而被授予绿色合成路线奖。②Cytec公司由于研发出MAX HT阻垢剂而使使用其技术的18家工厂每年可以节省万亿BTU(英国热量单位),减少数百万磅的有害酸性废物,而被授予绿色反应条件奖。③Buckman国际公司由于开发了能够在生产优质纸和纸板时减少对能源和木纤维需要而被授予绿色化学品设计奖。④Elevance可再生科学公司在有利的成本下,应用复分解催化生产高效、专业绿色化学品,而被授予小企业奖。⑤美国康奈尔大学的Coates教授使用一氧化碳和二氧化碳合成的可降解聚合物被授予年度学术奖;而Waymouth教授和Hedrick博士因为研究利用二氧化碳生物合成高碳醇的方法也被授予了年度学术奖。
The innovation and benefits of five awards and winners of the US Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge (PGCC) Awards Program in 2012 were introduced: The Codexis, Inc. and Professor Tang were awarded greener synthetic pathways award because of a synthesis using an engineered enzyme and a practical low-cost feedstock. Cytec Industries Inc. was awarded greener reaction conditions award because of MAX HT inhibitor with saving trillions of Btu and reducing hazardous acid waste by millions of pounds annually in eighteen plants. (~) The Buckman Intemational, Inc. was awarded designing greener chemicals award because of Maximyze enzymes making paper with improved strength and quality without additional chemicals or energy. Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc. was awarded small business award because of using metathesis catalysis to produce high-performing, green specialty chemicals at advantageous costs. Professor Geoffrey W. Coates was awarded academic award because of synthesizing biodegradable polymers from carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Also, Professor Robert M. Waymouth, and Dr. James L. Hedrick were awarded academic award because of their organic catalysis.
