摘要
大都会歌剧院新版《假面舞会》(Un Balloin Maschera)的问题,或许可以归咎于“期望越高,失望越大”。
David Alden directing Un Ballo in Maschera at the Metropolitan Opera is being played out like the story of the 'prodigal son':After many years of absence,a rebellious son returns to the full embrace of his father.Alden,a New York-native who made his name in Europe, had not worked at the Met before,so expectations were high for this directorial debut. His Ballo has many interesting ideas, from mythical metaphors and sinister surrealistic touches to quirky characters and 'is it a dream?' brain-teasers.Not all of them gel, unfortunately, but Alden did bring out some engaging acting from the singers, especially Marcelo Alvarez, whose King Gustav counts as one of his best performances at the Met.
