Equality of All Substances in Chuang tzu and the film "Inception" seem to be quite different texts, but there is obvious inter-textuality between them. First of all, both of the two texts distinguish "dreams" from "waking-up" and pay more attention to the space than to the time; second, both present multi-dimensional dreams and entring into the other's dreams, which is a visual display of the modern psycho-analysis theory; last, both pay close attention to distinguishing the "dream" from "not dream", which embodies strong philosophical meaning. However, the two texts show different interests of Chinese and western culture : "Inception" highlights the significance of the real life, but Equality of All Substances advocates a kind of outlook of vanity in the hope of making people come back to the natural life.
