With the development of smart grids, robots and sensors will play a pivotal role in electric network. This paper presents the EPRI＇s study on various kinds of robots and sensors used in smart grids. As intelligent monitoring tools,they will greatly improve the safety and reliability of power transmission and distribution and optimize the operation and maintenance management.
