The New Reasoner and the Universities ＆ Left Review were two important political journals in the early development of British New Left. They differed in origins, personnel structures and notions of running. By raising the ＇Socialist Humanism＇, the New Reasoner paved the theoretical basist for the early development of British New Left. The Universities ＆ Left Review, which was committed to researching the social reality of contemporary British Capitalism, opened up a way for academic achievements of British New Left in the cultural studies and the politics.
