Memory Places:New Conception in the Conservation of World Cultural Heritage with a view of Cultural Identity

文化认同危机已经成为城市现代化变迁中出现的世界性课题。拯救与活化普遍存在于保护名录之外的富有集体记忆、维系地方文化认同感的历史性场所正成为当下城镇发展的一种共识。综合运用文献综述、概念比较、理论思辨与案例分析等方法,介绍了记忆场所这一世界文化遗产保护的新现象及其对于文化认同建构的积极意义;阐述了西方理论与实践中多维活化策略探索及其相关研究。最大贡献是在于将"记忆场所"纳入世界文化遗产保护范畴之中,重构了文化遗产的研究框架,意在唤起学术界对于记忆场所这类文化遗存的重视。

It is a common phenomenon that cities are losing their cultural identity along with urban great changes in the world recently. One of important reasons is that the value of many scattered memory places are underestimated and lack of enough protective utilization accordingly, which are rich with collective memory and strong emotional attachments to ordinary people, but are normally not registered in the lists of cultural relics. Therefore, the essay attempts to introduce memory place, a new concept of preservation of cultural heritage, and its revitalizing strategies through literary reviews, comparison, analysis and case study, which contribute to cultural identity-making. It argues that it is necessary to clarify the conception of memory place and build a new framework for the studies of world cultural heritage.
