On Cultivation of Critical Thinking in Teaching Intensive Reading Course

精读课的中心任务是提升阅读能力,具体包括理解能力、赏析能力和应用能力。阅读能力培养的目的是提高学生的信息获取和评价能力,而信息的获取和评价必须以思辨能力为基础,把精读课教学与学生思辨能力的培养相结合有利于改变英语专业教学中重"学"轻"思"的现状。

Intensive reading course is designed to improve learners＇ reading abilities, including comprehension, apprecia- tion and knowledge - construction. The aim of the course is to develop learners＇ competence in acquiring and evaluating infor- mation, which is based on critical thinking. Cultivating critical thinking in intensive reading classroom teaching is beneficial in balance of ＂skills - preferred＂ and ＂thinking - preferred＂ learning for English majors in China.
