On the Aesthetic Experience and Edifying Power of Dewey's Philosophy

杜威从"一个经验"出发,改写了现代美学对于审美经验的界定,以恢复审美与生活的连续性,进而倡导艺术为保持生命活力、扩展生命领域而具有的工具价值。以"审美自主"的现代性话语为参照,在比较中讨论杜威的审美经验理论和艺术教化思想,可强调其连续性观念里所蕴含的民主理想;只有在这种合理社会、美好生活的愿景下,只有在一种社会批判的视野里,才能更有意义地讨论"日常生活的审美化"。

Dewey redefined the aesthetic experience of modern aesthetics from the angle of ＂An Experience＂ and advocated the instrumental value of art in preserving the vitality of life and expanding its domain. Using the modern term ＂aesthetic au- tonomy＂ as reference, this essay compares and discusses Dewey＇s theories of aesthetic experience and the edifying power of art, with special emphasis on the democratic ideas contained in his concept of continuity, It also holds that only in a just so- ciety with a beautiful life and in an ambience of social criticism can there be a meaningful discussion on ＂Aestheticization of Everyday Life＂.
