晚清澳门华人巨商何连旺家族事迹考述

A Study of the Actions of the Family of the Prominent Macao Chinese Businessman Ho Lin Vong in the Late Qing Period

何连旺家族是晚清澳门华人社会中影响最大的家族之一。19世纪后半叶,何氏家族在澳门经历了从何桂到何连旺两代人的辉煌。尤其是何连旺,他广泛参与政治、经济、文化与社会活动,对晚清澳门社会的发展起了一定的推动作用。但在20世纪初,这一曾极度辉煌的家族却因种种原因彻底衰落。本文搜罗各种史料,详细论述何连旺家族的兴衰过程及原因,并对澳门近代史上最为显赫的历史人物之一何连旺进行客观的还原。

The family of Ho Lin Vong was one of the most influential in Macao Chinese society in the late Qing period.During the second half of the 19th century,the Ho family in Macao experienced two generations of glory during the lives of Ho Kwai and Ho Lin Vong,the latter in particular.Ho Lin Vong participated extensively in political,economic,cultural and social activities,playing a significant role in promoting the development of Macao society in the late Qing period.However,for a number of reasons,this formerly glorious family declined completely in the early 20th century.Using a wide range of historical data,this article discusses the process of and reasons for the rise and decline of the Ho family,and restores objectivity to the life story of Ho Lin Vong,one of the most prominent historical figures in the modern history of Macao.
