摘要
批评隐喻理论通过对隐喻的社会历史语境的语料分析来揭示政治话语背后隐藏的意识形态。对4位美国总统演讲的批评隐喻分析折射了各有特色的政治神话:里根的娱乐和体育隐喻阐释了从舞台到太空的浪漫政治梦想,克林顿的复兴隐喻成功地重塑了政治使命和形象,布什的经济隐喻指向其清算道德债务的政治生涯,而奥巴马的家庭和故事隐喻则融合了白人和黑人的美国梦。喻德、喻理、喻情功能在不同总统的演讲中各有侧重。
Critical Metaphor Analysis is capable of revealing the ideology behind political discourses by the corpus analysis of the socio-historical context of metaphors.The study of metaphors in four American presidents' speeches reflects their political myths: Reagan's entertainment and sports metaphors explain his romantic politics from the stage to the space;Clinton's revival metaphors reshape his political mission and image;George Bush's economic metaphors point to his career of moral debt liquidation;Obama's family and story metaphors blend white and black American dream.The three functions of metaphors,i.e.ethos,logos and pathos,are differently emphasized in the four presidents' speeches.
