Cross Cultural Interaction and Hybridization of Gamelan In Canada

作者以观察者与实践者的身份,对加拿大地区的甘美兰项目的建立和发展进行研究。从跨文化互动的角度,介绍了甘美兰在加拿大温哥华的起源;同时,介绍了甘美兰与西方音乐文化的互动与混合的成果——新形式的甘美兰音乐;此外,比较并分析了在温哥华的两种甘美兰乐团———在学术背景下的甘美兰乐团和社区的甘美兰乐团。对甘美兰这种古老的印度尼西亚音乐传统在全球化背景下的变革与发展进行了总结。

As an observer and practitioner, the author has researched the establishment and development of the gamelan programs in North America and Canada. This paper introduces the origin of the gamelan in Vancouver, Canada and its new fruit under the background of the cross cultural interaction and hybridization. The comparison between the academic gamelan group and community gamelan group is also included in this paper. The author has also made comments on the reforms and development of gamelan in the context of globalization.
