With the reform of enrollment system and increasingly acute social issues, activity to assist the impoverished students, as a popular project, is becoming more and more complicated. This paper mainly expounds the necessity of launching self-improvement education for poor students in local universities of new period and raises some feasible approach, based on analyzing the status quo of the activity to assist the impoverished students in Jiaying University.
