To meet the cofferdam construction requirement of artificial island project for Hong Kong airport, the original ＂Sanhang Barge 601＂ was converted into a crane vessel with 400 t lifting capacity. This paper gave a preliminary analysis and calculation on specialized equipment and discussed key pointed of the conversion.
