A Review of Cultural Studies on the Grand Canal

大运河文化应该是一个大文化概念,既蕴含丰富的物质文化,如河道变迁、水利工程遗迹、税关仓储等,又蕴涵非常丰富的非物质文化,包括宗教信仰、风土人情、传统习俗、学术思想、文学艺术、科学技术等。随着申遗工作的推进,从"大运河文化遗产保护与开发的角度"开展研究的课题明显增多,研究成果日益丰富。

The culture of the Grand Canal should be a concept in a broad sense,which not only contains rich material culture,such as the changes of the rivercourses,the grain transporting of the Canal,the storing of revenues,etc.,but also implies abundant intangible culture,including religion,beliefs,local conditions and practices,traditional customs,academic thoughts,literature and arts,scientific technologies,etc.With the advance of World Heritage Application,the projects done from the perspective of protecting and exploring the Grand Canal have increased obviously and the diverse researches have constituted more considerable achievements.
