On the Basic Characteristics and Modern Value of the Traditional Ideology of Frugality

中国传统节俭观以义礼为躬行俭的基本原则,以克己为实践俭的价值取向,以养德为崇尚俭的价值旨归,以兴邦为弘扬俭的立论基础;其从修身、治国两个方面,从伦理、经济两个角度发掘了节俭的价值。节俭提倡简约、反对浪费的鲜明消费主张,关注人德性追求、精神需要的伦理价值指向,对于建构当代中国特色消费伦理、形成具有民族精神的德性观念有很大启示意义。

Chinese traditional thrift idea is based on ceremonial and courtesy behavior, through detailed meth- od of ruling oneself to achieve thrift and orienting to manifesting virtue and flourishes the state. The value of thrift was dug from two aspects of cultivating oneself and ordering one＇ s state and two perspectives of ethics and econo-my. Thrift advocates frugal behavior and rejects waste consumption. Thrift focuses on value guild of virtue cultiva- tion and spiritual needs, which has great significance to construct modem consumptive ethics with Chinese charac-teristics, and shape virtue idea of national spirits.
