On the Cultivation of the Pragmatic Competence of Chinese Talents

素质教育是21世纪国际高等教育的主导趋势,这种趋势对中文专业汉语人才的培养提出了新的要求:必须重视语用能力的培养。既要重视学生基础语用能力的提高,更应重视学生专业语用能力的提高,后者是创新型人才所必需的能力。语用能力的培养关键在语言实践、在于语言运用。我们应更新观念,重视运用;利用平台,促进运用;加强指导,催化运用。

Quality education is the dominant trend of international higher education in the 21^st century which presents new demands for the cultivation of Chinese majors. Great importance must be attached to the cultivation of pragmatic competence, not only to the basic pragmatic competence hut also to the professional competence. The latter is the required aptitude of innovative talents. The key to the cultivation of pragmatic competence lies in language practice and language performance. We should renew concepts to value practice, utilize platforms to promote practice, and reinforce instructions to encourage practice.
