党的民族平等政策对边疆地区社会稳定、经济发展起到了至关重要的作用,是社会主义民族关系的核心内容之一,是发展边疆民族地区经济文化事业的政治保障,是构建和谐社会的内在要求。目前我国尚处在社会主义的初级阶段,影响民族平等和社会稳定的因素很多,对民族平等的界定应该符合时代的要求和标准。

The policy of ethnic equal, the core of building a harmonious relationship be- tween ethnic groups, made by our communist party plays an important part in the stabilization of society and development of economy. This policy is a political security for the development of economy and culture, and necessity of building a harmonious society. Now we are in the first stage of socialism , in which many factors would influence the equality and stabilization , so we should have a new definition of equality up to the times.
