Using Extensive Explanations to Explicate the Philosophy of Life: On FANG Dongmei's Thought on the Changes

在现代新儒家中,方东美先生的《周易》研究可谓独具特色!他既从狭义的角度对诸如《周易》性质的定位与传承、《周易》符号系统的推演、卦爻辞如何赋义等问题进行探索性的解读;又从广义的角度,尤其在生命本体论、价值的生成与实现等问题上进行创造性的建构。事实上,通过对《周易》的系统研究,方东美亦因此构建起其富有特色的有机生命本体论。

In modern New Confucianism, Mr. FANG Dongmei＇s Yi learning can be referred to as a specialized form. From a narrow angle, he engaged exploratory interpretation to the qualities and transmission, the logic of the symbolic system, and the implications of the hexagram and line statements of the Zhouyi; from a broad angle, he further accomplished his creative theoretical construction of ontology and axiology of life. As a matter of fact, through systematic studies on the Changes, FANG Dongmei established his organic ontology with particular characteristics.
