在科学与技术高度发展的20世纪,"神话"得到了又一次复兴。这样的现象势必有其固有的社会文化因素,作为奇幻小说开山之作的《魔戒》生动地证实了这一点。《魔戒》所具有的完备的神系、二元对立的结构、《圣经》中经典人物的影子和虚构的情节,使《魔戒》具有明显的神话意味,其内蕴暗合了人类个人行为和社会行为的永恒模式,在现代社会具有特殊价值。
With the rapid development of science and technology in the 20th century, myth got another renaissance. This phe- nomenon surely results from some social and cultural initiations. The Lord of the Rings, the fountainhead of fantasy fiction, was a vivid illustration. A complete god system, the binary opposition structure as well as the classical characters and plots in the Bi- ble have made The Lord of the Rings rich of mythological meaning. It inflects the eternal mode of individual behavior and social behavior, which has its special value in modem society.
