Explanations for the Words in Ju Yan Xin Jian

《居延新简》作为研治汉语词汇史的"同时资料",保留了丰富的口语词汇,具有重要的研究意义。对书中出现的七个疑难语词考察后发现,"穿补"指衣服破旧、破烂;"调给"指调拨供应;"决绝"指了断、结束;"杻械"指戴上刑具;"贫急"指贫穷、生活窘迫;"猥言"指胡说、言不符实;"行"指传递。

As contemporary material for the study of the history of Chinese vocabulary, Ju Yan Xin Jian possesses a copious oral vocabulary worthy of study. In this paper, we present explanations for seven difficult words such as ＂Chuanbu（穿补） ＂ meaning worn-out, ＂Diaoji （调给） ＂ referring to transferring and supplying the needs, ＂Juejue （决绝）＂ meaning to end something or terminate the relations, ＂Niuxie （杻械）＂ referring to wearing manacles, ＂Pinji （ 贫急）＂ meaning poor, ＂Weiyan （猥言）＂ referring to nonsense, and ＂Xing（行） ＂ delivering.
