摘要 本研究通过问卷、访谈、课堂观察对高等学校英语应用能力考试(PRETCO)的反拨作用进行了调查。结果显示,PRETCO对高职英语的教与学因不同师生而呈现强弱不等的反拨作用。PRETCO激发了师生教与学的热情并使他们能正确对待课程评估,但也给学生造成心理压力;教与学的内容比方法更易受PRETCO冲击且在某种程度上反映出应试倾向。PRETCO网络测试形式受到了师生普遍认可。为克服PRETCO的消极影响,应改进试题设计、完善考试信息反馈、加强考教双方的交流和学生自我评估能力的培养、正确使用考分。 This paper reports on an investigation into the washback effect of the Practical English Test for Colleges (PRETCO) on ELT in polytechnic schools in China through questionnaire, interview, and classroom observation. The results show that PRETCO has achieved washback with diverse intensity according to different teachers and students. PRETCO provides motivation for teachers in teaching and brings forth students' enthusiasm in learning. Teachers and students hold correct perceptions about the role PRETCO plays in the teaching and learning assessment while students bear pressure from PRETCO. Compared with teaching and learning methods, their corresponding con- tents are more inclined to be affected by PRETCO and to some extent influenced by test-taking. Furthermore, the net- work test format is commonly popular among test takers. In order to overcome the negative wachback of PRETCO, first, the test design needs improving and test result feedback should be elaborated. Next, teachers and test authori- ties should get more involved with each other and students' self-assessment should be fostered. Last, the test score must be correctly used.
