Small-scale industrial steam boilers have a small water capacity, making them easily involved in explosive accident because of water shortage. Currently, no effective measure has been developed to avoid the occurrence of such accident. The fusible plug, a safe equipment for pressure relief, has been widely applied in steam locomotive boilers with good effect and mature technology. This article will investigate in details whether the fusible plug can be applied in industrial steam boilers and how it can be applied.
