“檃栝”考论

An Explanation of Yinkuo

先秦秦汉时期曾广泛使用的箭杆整直器叫做"檃栝"。本文以文献资料为依据,探讨汉墓中出土的一种小型青铜构件的用途,认为它们应是仿照当时的"檃栝",将其缩小二分之一或三分之一,专为随葬制作的明器。

During the pre-Qin times, a device namedyinkuo was widely used to straighten arrow shafts. Based upon textual records, the authors attempt to explore the function of a type of small bronze objects which were buried in Han tombs. Such type of artifacts might have been the bronze counterpart of contemporary y/nkuo. As the size of bronze ones was usually half or one-third of the original dimension, such kind of bronze objects might serve specifically as miniatures for funeral.
