This paper presents a new MAC protocol based on CDMA for wireless ATM systems. Services that will be supported by cellular networks are divided into two types: real time services and non real time services. This protocol can guarantee the access delay of real time services and obtain great throughout. When non real time cells arrive, the mobiles present their requests with a manner that is similar to the channel load sensing. Emulation has showed an almost perfect performance not only in voice loss rate but also in average data delay. This protocol will be a candidate of MAC protocol for future wireless ATM systems.
