In September 2010 through January 2011, a rescue excavation was conducted to an earthen pit tomb with piled stone and wooden chamber inltl-shaped plan in Xindian, Linzi District. On the ledge in the pit sulxounding the coffin chamber, there were four attendant tombs and one storage pit. The grave goods remaining in the tomb were still rich, including potteries, bronzes, crystal and agate objects, stone implements, clay wares, bone implements, lacquer wares, etc. The burial style and the assemblage and features of grave goods all showed that the occupant of this tomb was a high-ranking aristocrat or a member of the royal family of the Qi State in the early Warring-States Period. The bronzes unearthed from this tomb had grandiose and solemn shapes and exquisite designs made with sophisticated casting techniques, which are signiticantly valuable for the researches on the bronze metallurgy and foundry of the Qi State.
