'Old fire'means the combustion of fossil fuel which poses an increasing threat to the economy, safety, health and the environment. This necessitates re-inventing'fire' and completely converting the present energy system. The core of'new fire'is maximum use of renewable energy and much improved energy efficiency.Energy conservation work should be focused on transportation, buildings and industry.Energy conservation work in the transportation sector aims to reduce the weight of vehicles and use new types of materials;while in the building trade it aims to adopt thermal insulation of windows and integrated design; and in industry it aims to optimize design and retrofit. Electricity, the main path to the'new combustion'era, has huge potential for energy conservation. The energy supply will gradually shift to distributed renewable energy. With'new fire',the energy system of the US will no longer use petroleum, coal or nuclear power by 2050 and support its economic scale reaching 2.6 times today’s.The reinvention of'fire'coincides with the idea of energy conservation&emission reduction.
