今年仲夏．去到-个对我来说是天涯海角的地方，北极圈内，挪威芬马克郡（Finnmark）的小岛Valdo，为了一座触动心灵的＂女巫审判案受害者纪念馆J．PeterZumthor和艺术家LouiseBourgeois合作设计，去年六月落成，前一个月Bourgeois过世．享年99岁。
Architect Peter Zumthor designed the Steilneset memorial on Finnmark island,Norway to commemorate suspected witches,who were burned at the stake there in the seventeenth century.The Steilneset Memorial in Vard consists of two structures,one conceived entirely by Zumthor and a second housing an installation by the late Louise Bourgeois(1911-2010).The first structure is a pine scaffolding framework,inside which is a suspended fabric cocoon containing a long oak-floored corridor.Inside this corridor,light bulbs hang behind 91 windows to represent each of the men and women that were put to death during the witch trials.The installation by Bourgeois,entitled The Damned,The Possessed and The Beloved,occupies the smoked-glassclad second structure.A circle of mirrors within surround and reflect a flaming steel chair inside a hollow concrete cone.The simple,yet profound decision to honor the memory of injustices that were committed 400 years ago prompts Jian Zhaoling to wonder,'What monuments will our actions force our descendents to build for us in 400 years time?'
