The Historical Role of the OAU in African Integration

非洲统一组织是非洲一体化的奠基者和推动者。非洲统一组织在推动非洲大陆的全面解放、弘扬和发展泛非主义精神、维护非洲国家的独立和主权、倡导非洲国家间的团结与合作、推进非洲大陆的经济发展和一体化等方面进行了积极探索，并且取得了相当的成就。非洲统一组织的努力和历史成就为非洲大陆的一体化奠定了政治、思想和一定的经济和组织基础，其倡导的团结、合作、统一、发展的精神对于非洲未来的经济社会发展和一体化进程仍然具有指导意义。

As the founder and promoter of African integration, the Organization of African Unity （OAU） made active explorations and remarkable progresses as follows： promoting the comprehensive liberation of the African continent; expanding and developing the Pan - Africansim ; safeguarding the independence and sovereignty of African countries; advocating the solidarity and cooperation among African countries; and promoting economic development and integration of the African continent. These efforts and historical contributions laid the political, theoretical and certain economic and organizational foundations to the integration of African continent. The spirits of solidarity, cooperation, unity and development that OAU advocates are still of guiding significance for Africa＇ s future economic and social develop- ment and the integration process.
