二十世纪五十年代,为响应党中央"向科学进军"的号召,全国各地的图书馆掀起为科学研究服务的热潮,杜定友先生冷静审视和思考各图书馆的做法,从图书馆性质的定位、人才培养、馆藏资源建设等方面提出了怎样更好地为科学研究服务的意见和建议,这些意见和建议对今天图书馆正在开展的学科服务,具有重要的启示意义。

In 1950s, in response to the call ＂stepping to science＂ from the Party Central Committee, libraries across the country lifted an upsurge for scientific research service. After a calm observation and reflection of library practices, Du Dingyou put forward some opinions and suggestions about how to achieve a better service for scientific research from many aspects, such as the positioning of the library nature, personnel training and collection resources construction. Those opinions and suggestions can give important inspirations to the subject service of libraries nowadays.
