摘要
With the rapidly rising incidence of diabetes, one of its complications, diabetic nephropathy (DN) is becoming one of the most common causes of end-stage renal disease in many countries. Reliable animal models of DN are a valuable tool for identifying the molecular mechanisms responsible for this disease and preclinical development of new therapeutic strategies. Various types of animal models have been used in the past; the induced methods and characteristics of these commonly used animal models were summarized in this review.
