Echinococcosis is a human parasitic disease common in sheep-rearing regions. It is caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus. In humans, the most frequent locations of the hydatid cysts are the liver and l lungs; pencardlal echlnococcosls is extremely rare.2 Only 8 cases of pericardial echinococcosis occurred in approximately 7000 cardiac operations during 31 years in our hospital. We herein reported our surgical treatment experience and provide diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations for pericardial echinococcosis.
