The global manufacturing industry went down in 2012. Although European and American markets dwindled, the exports of Chinese mechanical and electrical products increased rapidly. The were some factors that drove the growth. Private enterprises and general trade played moreimportant roles in the exports of mechanical and electrical products. Besides, the Chinese government implemented some policies to improve the country's industrial structure. For example, the government hammered out a plan to restructure the industry, and decided to heighten export duty refunds. These policies have spurred the exports. There are still difficulties. The structure of Chinese mechanical and electrical industry was unbalanced. The industry has too much low-end production capacity and lacks high- end technologies. Moreover, the rising costs in domestic market have weakened the ability of Chinese firms to explore the global market. Meanwhile, the increasing trade frictions have made the competition even fiercer. To tackle with the impact of the global recession and the shrinking markets, Chinese manufacturers will have to sail ahead against the wind.
