Variable rate technology is an important part of digital agriculture. This article expounds on the concept, structural composition, functions of variable rate technology. Its applications in such fields as fertilizer application, sowing, rice transplanting, pesticide spraying and smart yield-measurement by combine harvester are discussed. The existent problems in the application of this technology and its future development are also covered in this article.
