On Types and Manifestations of Zhuang Zi's Idea of Freedom

自由作为人类孜孜以求的价值目标,构成庄子哲学探讨的核心问题。从内容上看,庄子标识的自由观念不仅可以划分为生物自由、人的自由和理想人格自由三种类型,而且具体表现为行动自由、实践自由、精神自由、思想自由、经济自由和政治自由等样式。对此我们应当全面把握,不能失之片面。

Freedom, as a goal of value pursued by human beings, constitutes the core of Zhuang Zi＇s philosophy. According to the content, his idea of freedom can be classified into three types： freedom of living beings, freedom of man and freedom of ideal personality. Their specific manifestations are freedom of behavior, freedom of practice, freedom of spirit, freedom of idea, freedom in economy and freedom in politics. We should have a comprehensive rather than a one-sided understanding of Zhuang Zi＇s idea of freedom.
