桐城麻溪姚氏家族是清代著名的文学世家,有着深厚的家族文化。以姚莹、姚濬昌等为典型代表的家族成员整理、刊刻先祖的著述对姚氏家族文化的累积与传承起到了十分重要的作用,并体现出重要的文化价值与文化意蕴,这主要表现在:追述先德,表彰家族文化成就;保存文献,加深家族文化成色;昭示后人,承继家族文化传统。
