20世纪后期,随着亚洲和太平洋地区移民的大量涌入,使得加拿大的多元文化问题变得愈加广泛而复杂。南亚移民文学作品通过对原籍国文化历史和社会风貌的追溯,表现这一移民群体对自我民族身份的探求和对本民族文化的弘扬。南亚移民作家的后期作品触及了加拿大的主题,记录了南亚移民艰难的生存和奋斗历程。在国家建构的过程中移民作家在文化兼精神层面的贡献已初显雏形,他们通过语言,利用自己的文字作为武器和策略,为本民族移民争取了应有的权力。

In the latter part of 20th century,with the influx of immigrants from Asia-Pacific region,the multicultural problem became wide and complex.The literature of South Asian Canadian reveals the exploration of their ethnic identity and promotion of their ethnic cultural heritage.The latter works touch the Candian theme,recording the immigrants＇ rough surviving and struggling course and spiritural trek.The writers＇ cultural-cum-spiritual contribution to the process of nation building takes shape in empowerment through language,utilization of the word as strategy and weapon.
