“济盈不濡轨”小考

Textual Research on ＂Ji Ying Bu Ru Gui＂

“济盈不濡轨”出自《诗经·邶风·匏有苦叶》，古来聚讼处有二：一是“轨”字何意，二是“不”字是不是否定副词。关于“轨”字，本文认为戴震之说可取，即“车辙”，引中为“道路”之义：关于“不”字，可取王引之之说，即为语气词。“济盈不濡轨”诗意即：济水涨高了，就要漫过道路了。

＂ Ji Ying Bu Ru Gui＂ is derived from Book of Songs.Bei Feng.Pao You Ku Ye. Since ancient times, there are two controversies： one is the meaning of the word＂ Gui＂, another is whether the word ＂ Bu ＂a negative adverb or not. On the word ＂ Gui＂, this article thinks that Dai Zhen＇s explanation is advisable, that is, the word ＂ Gui ＂ means ＂ cart track ＂ with an extending meaning of＂ road ＂. Wang Yinzhi＇s interpretation about the word ＂ Bu＂ is appropriate, which points out that the word ＂Bu＂ is a mood particle. So the meaning of the poem sentence ＂Ji Ying Bu Ru Gui＂ is： The water level of Ji River is rising, and will diffuse through the road.
