Objective To evaluate the feasibility of animal models of glioma according to the difference of polypep- tide chains of N - cadherin among these animals and human. Methods Maximum likelihood analysis was performed with amino acids sequences of 16 N - cadherin using Clustalx 1.83 and MEGA 4.0 softwares. Results Varied amino acid sites among polypeptide chains of N - eadherin of 16 animals and a maximum likelihood tree were obtainted. Conclusion As an important adhesive molecule, N - cadherin is a key protein for metastasis and invasion of the glioma cells. When animal models of glioma are planned to be established, their amino acid sequences of N - cadherin should be as consistent as possible with those of human tissues.
