中央提出西部大开发战略后,根据科技部的统一要求和部署,基础研究司对基础研究工作如何为西部大开发服务进行了认真的研究。本文介绍了“九五”期间支持西部基础研究工作概况,提出了西部大开发基础研究工作的基本思路和“十五”期间的工作重点。

Author gives a brief account of basic research in western China during the time of 9th Five-year Plan. New ideas and key basic research fields for strenthening the development of western China are outlined.
