台湾著名爱国历史学家连横从小就以著台湾史为己任。他虽身处日本殖民统治的环境中,但却始终坚持信念,孜孜不倦,用十多年的时间著成台湾史学巨著《台湾通史》。《台湾通史》是连横一生中最重要的著作,凝聚着作者的心血与艰辛付出,也寄寓着作者强烈的民族意识和爱国主义情感。文章从《台湾通史》的写作动因、写作过程两方面对《台湾通史》的写作进行了考察,并就《台湾通史》的成就及连横撰述《台湾通史》的艰辛付出进行了评述。

Lian Heng, a famous patriotic historian of Taiwan, had stuck to the mission of writing the history of Taiwan since childhood. He adhered to his faith diligently and wrote a historiography work of General History of Taiwan for over ten years while he lived in the Japanese colony. General History of Taiwan, the most important work in Lian Heng＇s life, not only embodied his painstaking work and efforts, but exhibited his great national consciousness and patriotic feelings. The thesis digs into why to write the book and how to write it. And it also makes comments on the achievements of the book.
