Based on analyzing the meaning of hedges, the paper explores the pragmatic function and application of hedges in oral communication and writing in foreign language teaching, and reveals that hedges have great significance in guiding foreign language teaching, namely, the significance of the accuracy and appropriateness of speaking and writing.
