黎锦熙与乔姆斯基语法思想比较——中国语言学流派问题管窥

A Comparative Study of the Grammar by Chomsky and Li Jinxi——From the Perspective of Linguistic Schools of Thought in China

黎锦熙与乔姆斯基的语言学思想在某些方面相近,但在对语言学的影响和是否导致学派形成等方面却反差很大。研究对象、研究方法、理论体系与解释力等方面的比较研究显示,"黎派语法"未能形成的主要原因在于缺乏明确的哲学反思、在方法上重教学轻理论以及由于对教学的高度适应性而鲜有质疑者与后续研究。基于此例的比较显示,理论反思在学派形成过程中有着举足轻重的作用,而这恰恰是我们的弱项。

Li Jinxi and Noam Chomsky have something in common in their linguistic thought,but they differ greatly in the influence they have exerted and in whether their studies have brought about linguistic schools of thought.After a comparative study between the two linguists on such matters as the objects and methods of their study,and the soundness and explanatory power of their theories,the paper finds out that the failure of a Li Jinxi Grammar School results from a lack of explicit philosophical reflection,a stress on classroom teaching instead of theoretical construction,and a lack of follow-up studies due to its high accommodation in classrooms.Based on these findings,the paper concludes that theoretical reflections play a great role in the founding of linguistic schools of thought,whereas this is what we are short of in Chinese linguistic field.
