An Analysis of Humor on the Violation of Cooperative Principle

为了保证会话的顺利进行,交谈双方应共同遵守一些基本原则,即语言哲学家Grice提出的著名的合作原则理论。然而在日常交际中,会话者往往会刻意违反该理论,以期能在特定的语境中传递特殊的会话含意,从而使话语产生幽默效应。以语用学中的合作原则为理论依据,通过对近年来热播的美国情景喜剧《生活大爆炸》中的幽默对白进行剖析,探讨了违反合作原则与幽默产生之间的内在联系。

In order to ensure the smoothness of conversation,both sides should obey some basic principles — Cooperative Principles,proposed by famous linguistic philosopher Grice.However,in daily conversations,people often deliberately violate this theory hoping to transfer certain conversational implications in a particular context to produce humorous effects.On the basis of Cooperative Principle in pragmatic,the author analyzes the humorous dialogues in American sitcom The Big Bang Theory and discusses the relationship between humor and the violation of Cooperative Principle.
