Electronic tools are playing an increasingly significant role in the Chinese-English translation of Chinese Classics. If properly used, such practical tools can not only help the translators, when processing the Chinese classics as the source text,quickly collect and edit the Chinese version, find the background in- formation,differentiate the ancient and modern Chinese words and analyze the sentence structure but also assist translators,when outputting the English version as the target text, to efficiently utilize parallel cor- pus,on-line dictionaries and other Internet links to illustrate the grammatical and logical relations between various elements of the sentences for the purpose of obtaining correct and reliable English version with Chinese cultural characteristics. Although the electronic tools turn out to be extremely powerful, the bilin- gual competence and the knowledge structure of the translator are always of vital importance.
