The Characteristics of Mazu Historical Documents in Ming Dynasty and the Reasons

总结并分析明代妈祖文献史料具有四个特点,即开始出现妈祖经书和妈祖题材的小说,朝廷褒封档案史料很少,林氏族谱与妈祖志书结合以及出现较多官绅阶层对皇权膜拜及对妈祖信仰批判的文献,指出形成这些特点的原因与明代妈祖信仰呈现式微的大趋势史实,是吻合和可以互相印证的。

This article analyzes four characteristics of historical documents about Mazu belief in Ming Dynasty which are the advent of Mazu scripture and novels about Mazu; small amount of ＇official files and historical documents of Mazu granted by the court; the combination of Lin＇s genealogy and Mazu literary; the emerge of documents about the official＇s worship towards the imperial power and their criticism on Mazu belief. It points out that these characteristics influence and reflect the declining of Mazu belief in Ming Dynasty.
