摘要 Music Has No Grief and Joy(Sheng wu ai le lun)by Ji Kang(223~263)in the Wei and Jin dynasties is a systemized theoretical writing about musical aesthetics in Chinese musical literature. As to Ji Kang’s viewpoint 1700 years ago, whether its eloquent mode of thinking in depth, or challenge of Confucian aesthetics, or its extensive approach to the content and form of music, or individual thoughts of music’s aesthetic psychology and sound functions, are all worthy of our further study. It is no doubt that Ji Kang’s original should be intensively studied first of all by means of a fluent modern Chinese translation.
