A Brief Review of Classical Chinese Sketch

小品文一般指篇幅短小、语言隽永的散文,其内容多描写个人生活和尘世百态,风格看似浅淡自然实则含蓄蕴藉、隽永有致。古代小品文发端于先秦两汉,魏晋南北朝时真正产生并得到一定发展,唐宋时期趋于成熟,至晚明而达于鼎盛,清代则日渐式微。小品文的历史由来已久,代不乏人,名家辈出,形成了中国散文史上的亮丽景观。

A sketch is a short prose with profound connotations, which is often employed in the depiction of personal or ordinary lives. It is always finished in a casual style with deep meanings and exquisite languages. It can be dated back to pre-- Qin and Two Hans. But in fact it was really born in Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties and developed through Tang and Song Dynasties. It culminated in the late Ming Dynasty and decayed in Qing. In short, the sketch has quite a long history and is never ended. Meanwhile, crowds of marvelous authors were produced though this history. I think,all these above has made a magnificent portrait of Chinese prose history.
