克孜尔石窟第38窟佛涅槃图像谈

On the Buddha Nirvana Images in Cave 38 at Kizil Grottoes

新疆克孜尔石窟中的大像窟、中心柱窟和方形窟均绘塑有佛涅槃的题材内容,而又以中心柱窟最为丰富,并都集中布置在窟内后室部分。这是克孜尔石窟造像艺术上一个显著特点,无疑也是探索龟兹地区佛教小乘说一切有部教义思想的重要窗口。第38窟是目前克孜尔石窟佛涅槃图像保存较为完整而又比较特殊的一个中心柱窟。本文试就该窟佛涅槃图像中的一些现象问题,根据自己的认识,作一初步解读。

There are subject matters of the Buddha Nirvana in A Huge Image Grotto, Central Pillar Grotto, and Square Grotto of Kizil Grottoes in Xinjiang, of which the Central Pillar Grotto has the most abundant ones that centrally arrange in its back room. This is a significant feature of statuary art in Kizil Grottoes, and also is undoubtedly an important window to explore the Theravada Buddhism Sarvastivadins religious thoughts in Kueha areas. Caves 38 has saved more complete Buddha Nirvana images, and is a special cen- tral pillar grotto in Kizil Grottoes. This article is trying to make a preliminary interpretation in respect of the Buddha Nirvana images in this grotto according to author＇s own understanding.
