On Mei Yaochens Poetic Creation and His Relationship with Du Fus Poems

梅尧巨诗歌风格多样,但总体尚可以"平淡"概括。从诗歌创作看,梅尧臣诗歌多写秽恶琐屑之物,在一定程度上破坏了诗歌的美感。梅尧臣推崇杜诗,在诗歌内容上关注国事和民生,使用杜诗典故,注重诗句锤炼,也使用杜诗中常用的句法。他的诗歌总体上并不学杜,但明显受到了杜诗的影响。

Mei Yaochen has different poetic styles and can generally be summarized as ＂plainness＂. Judging from poetic creation, his poems write mainly about trifle and ugly things, and to certain degree spoil the beauty of poems. Mei thinks highly of Du＇s poems and in contents cares much about national affairs and people＇s lives. He cites allusions from Du＇s poems, paying attention to refine the lines and using the syntax that is often used in Du＇s poems. Generally speaking, he doesn＇t learn from Du Fu in his poems while he is clearly influenced by Du Fu＇s poems.
